partner with nutrition services
Second Harvest Food Bank's Nutrition Services team is committed to working in partnership with our agency programs and community groups to support low-income families in improving their nutrition and health.

Hunger and Health: Making the Connection

Research shows that people experiencing food insecurity are more likely to suffer from diet-related chronic diseases, including diabetes, high blood pressure, and heart disease. Factors contributing to this relationship include:

-
Less resources and access to healthy, affordable food
-
Cycles of limited food intake and overeating
-
High levels of stress due to financial and emotional pressures
-
Targeted marketing of products associated with obesity
-
Limited access to health care

Second Harvest's Nutrition Services Team empowers individuals and families with the skills, knowledge, and confidence to establish healthier eating habits and maximize their resources for nutritious meals.
