After leaving pro-football due to an injury, William Webster, like so many of us, had ups and downs. But fortunately for all of us, that tumultuous journey eventually led him to Second Harvest’s Triad Community Kitchen program in YEAR. After completing the TCK program, he became a beloved member of the Second Harvest Food Bank Family and, later, a chef at our Providence Restaurant and Catering.
William always demanded that his student “respect the jacket” just as he did. Once in his chef jacket, he was transformed. He became host, artist, showman and all around food cheerleader. The craft of food gave him great joy. William readily spread this joy around him, making us all feel the love of food as he did. His lasting impact, through fond stories and good food, can be found all over Triad Community Kitchen and Providence Restaurant and Catering.
William suffered from heart trouble and had to undergo a quadruple bypass. Unfortunately, he was not able to fully recover from this difficult surgery. We are not alone in our grief that he recently passed away from complications.
Chef Webster will always be remembered as a joyful man with a passion for food.
