Once again, Second Harvest is teaming up with our wonderful supporters at WXII 12 News’ for our annual Holiday Food Drive.
Cash and food donations collected during the drive will help to provide essential meals for seniors, children, veterans, families and anyone who is facing hunger during the holidays.
“Our WXII Holiday Drives are a wonderful way to get involved and support Second Harvest,” says Joe Kilar, Food Drive Manager at the food bank. “They allow neighbors to help each other.”
“These drives help families provide full, nutritious meals and celebrate the holidays together,” continues Joe. “By helping provide this food, we are helping families alleviate some of the stressors during this time of the year—allowing them to focus on keeping warm, having the heat on or having a winter coat.”
Our team will travel across the Second Harvest service area, stopping in the places where our food often ends up. The food collected at these drives is brought back to our central warehouse in Winston-Salem, North Carolina and inspected and packed to go back out to out more than 460 on-the-ground partner agencies across the region.
