Below is the speech given by Providence Culinary Training graduate Rosemary Scott, who came back to address students at our most recent PCT graduation earlier this month. Rosemary is pictured above as a student at PCT, when WXII News 12 came to visit our program. Center row, third from the right.
“Hello everyone. I’m Rosemary Scott and I graduated with Providence Culinary Training’s class CC50. I’m currently a chef at Old Town Country Club, and I will have been working there two years in July.
The Providence Culinary Training program was honestly a life changing experience for me I’ve taken this class three times(yes three times!). The first two times let’s just say my addiction got the best of me and I wasn’t able to finish. But, a year later I decided I needed a change because the lifestyle I was living wasn’t working.
One night, I got home and I sent Chef Bacon a Facebook message. I asked PCT to give me ONE more chance– and there my new life started.
It was with the help of Chef Janis blowing up my phone every morning to make sure my butt was up for school, that I made through each day. It was with the help of my partner that I made it to school each day. It was Chef Danielle always being on my case for being late to school, and it was Chef Vanessa being brutally honest … it was through all this nagging that I quickly learned that these people and these instructors really cared about me.
This team of instructors inspired me to be better. Because of that, I can honestly say I wouldn’t be where I am today if it weren’t for them.
But not just me… Everyone is a part of the program and everyone helps. At Providence Culinary Training, you learn how to work in a kitchen. You learn how to adapt when some days are harder than others. You learn how to give back.
With that being said, graduates and classes to follow my class and this class today inspire to be better. As long as you put in the work, you’ll always have a family behind you here at Providence, supporting you and cheering you on!”
