HURRICANE IAN: HERE TO HELP

The national network of Feeding America food banks, including Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest NC, is actively engaged in responding to Hurricane Ian. Whenever disaster strikes, this work proceeds alongside our year-round hunger relief operations.

Our team is working with our sister Feeding the Carolinas food banks, Feeding America, and other first responding organizations, to make sure people have food and water— so that in the face of such devastation, families do not have to worry about whether they’ll have enough to eat. Through Feeding America, supplies were pre-staged for quick response. Our Food Bank is offering water, other healthy drinks, as well as prepared meals to assist with response efforts.

HOW YOU CAN HELP Donating money is the best way to help responding organizations do their critical work: You can donate to the Feeding America’s Network’s disaster response at feedingamerica.org

These financial donations are essential because they help re-start local economies when disasters like this occur. We do not recommend organizing activities to collect supplies or travel to the impacted areas since first responders – both government and nonprofit – are trained and prepared to execute action plans that create the best results for the communities affected.

Thank you for your support!
